Heirless
Heirless. 2015 -
In Heirless, I pair personal narrative with photographs of sentimental objects “for sale” via the threshold of an 18% grey studio space, and Craigslist. In this case I reverse the exchange, where objects I list online are “bought” in person at a yard sale with a currency of signed agreement to pose for a photograph I make and maintain contact with me. Through my exorcism of childhood keepsakes, I have established a new archive of personal connection, using a transitional object and photography to build secular families in the absence of wedded and biological ones. As our relationship grows, I show the transitional objects smaller and smaller in the photographic frame.
